White oak is a medium-sized tree native to eastern North America and Canada. The bark of the tree has a rough texture that is characteristic of other oaks and a mottled appearance of light grey to greyish-white colored areas.

While the hardwood is prized for furniture making, the bark is regarded as food and a good source of iron and B-12. Use white oak bark to make decoctions for teas, infusions and tonics, as well as skin care preparations.

Medicinal Uses:
Astringent, Antiseptic, Diuretic, Respiratory Conditions, Oral Health
White oak bark can also be used externally to protect against skin infections and to help treat a number of skin issues. It has been successfully used to treat poison ivy and to soothe the pain and inflammation from bee stings and bug bites.

When applied to the skin, it may also help speed up the healing process from minor wounds, cuts, scrapes, and burns. It can even be a helpful natural remedy for mouth ulcers and herpes.

Magical Properties:
The most sacred of all trees, its wood is often used in the making of magickal tools. Burn the leaves for purification. Use in fertility amulets. Hang a sprig in the home to ward of negativity and strengthen family unity. Carry for wisdom and strength, for luck, to preserve youthfulness, and/or to increase attractiveness.
